Magigoo Original

Magigoo Original is an easy to use 3D printing adhesive designed to address 'the first layer not sticking problem'. Magigoo ensures a strong adhesion to the hot plate. But the magic starts when printing is ready: just wait for the plate to cool down and then remove your prints with just a finger flick! Magigoo Original is a 3D printing adhesive for ABS, PLA, PETG, HIPS, TPU & ASA filaments.

Magigoo Original Features

Easy application: Applying Magigoo is as easy as child's play. Shake, press, apply. Spread on an active printing area only. No need to cover the whole surface

Easy-release: Magigoo adhesive properties are designed to release the 3D print once the build plate has cooled.

Easy-clean: Magigoo is easily cleaned with water.

Long-lasting: Magigoo last for 100+ average prints.

Odorless and safe: Magigoo is safe to use - be it in a closed room or educational workshop with kids.

Storage & Drying

MAGIGOO Original is best stored upright, with the cap closed and away from direct sunlight.

Before packaging, PolyLite™ PETG is dried to ensure the best printing quality and filaments are vacuum sealed to protect the filament from moisture.

While not a strict requirement to use PolyLite™ PETG, we recommend that the material be used with the PolyBox™ or a dry cabinet during printing to keep the filament at dry conditions (relative humidity of 15% or less) to prevent moisture absorption which will lower the quality and the mechanical properties of the print.

When not in use PolyLite™ PETG should be stored away from sunlight in the packaged resealable bag. If the filament does absorb moisture, spools of PolyLite™ PETG can be dried in a preheated convection oven at 70˚C for up to 8 hours. Results may vary depending on the accuracy of your oven so please be conservative. For more information about filament drying please read our user guide.

Compatibility

PolyLite™ PETG has been engineered with compatibility in mind to print excellently on a wide range of 3D printers. This material requires a heated bed.

Of course with thousands of unique 3d printer models on the market, we can't guarantee each filament type will work with every 3D printer.

PolyLite™ PETG FAQ

Q: Does PETG print exactly the same as PLA?
A: Most filament types are compared to PLA or ABS when discussing how they print. PETG doesn't print exactly like PLA but it shares more printing characteristics with PLA than it does with ABS. How easy a material is to print will wildly rely on a users hardware and previous experience, but most users find transitioning from PLA to PETG easier than transitioning from PLA to ABS. The key differences between PLA and PETG are a heated bed is very important when printing PETG, optimal printing temperatures are different and the enclosures can be more beneficial when printing some geometries.

Q: Can PETG be printed at large scales without warping?
A: In terms of dimensional stability, PETG is easier to print than high temperature materials like ABS. When using a desktop 3D printer, many large prints that would warp or crack in ABS can often times be printed in PETG without these hassles. Typically PETG can be printed at large scales without requiring an enclosure but this can vary depending on the first layer adhesion and heated bed. For 3D printers that don’t evenly heat the entire bed surface an enclosure can be very helpful. Enclosures can also help to prevent drafts.

Q: Is PETG a suitable replacement for ABS?
A: Many users refer to PETG as an excellent replacement for ABS which is certainly true for some applications. When comparing regular PETG and regular ABS; ABS is still the tougher, stiffer and more heat resistant filament however many end users find PETG easier to print. If users won't benefit from the added performance ABS offers, the improved printability of PETG can make PolyLite™ PETG a suitable candidate.

Magigoo FAQ

Q: How do I apply Magigoo?
A: It is best to apply Magigoo when the printing bed is cool. Before applying, shake the Magigoo pen like you mean it, press down the nib on the printing bed for Magigoo to flow. Spread more or less evenly on the printing area. It is enough to cover your active print area with an even thin layer. DO NOT SQUEEZE the bottle to avoid applicator popping off. Applicator has a valve which is activated once you push on it.

Q: Do I need to apply Magigoo everytime?
A: For good and reliable adhesion we recommend to apply Magigoo every time.

Q: How do I clean my bed after using Magigoo?
A: After your prints have finished and popped off, clean the printing bed by wiping with a damp cloth. Yes, just water is enough.

Q: How long will Magigoo last for?
A: One Magigoo 50ml pen is good for on average 100 prints. There is no firm best before date as it will vary depending on use and storing conditions - Once opened, we recommend to use it in a couple of months.

Q: Will Magigoo work with my existing printing surface?
A: Magigoo was originally formulated with borosilicate glass surfaces in mind however we have also had good success applying Magigoo to surfaces like Buildtak, in these cases Magigoo can work as a release agent for materials which can over-adhere like PET with PEI.
