Tap water soluble support material for ABS-R
Print dimensionally accurate ABS parts with the ease of PLA. Print your parts with confidence in ABS-R and RapidRinse™, drop your part into tap water, and watch the supports dissolve to nothing in just minutes. RapidRinse™ is a water soluble support filament that can be used in conjunction with the MakerBot Method X 3D printer and specially designed ABS-R filament. It can be quickly dissolved away without any special cleaning chemicals.
Only on METHOD X with MakerBot ABS-R filament.
ABS, FINALLY AS EASY AS PLA

MakerBot RapidRinse™ is compatible with the MakerBot METHOD X 3D Printer using the Support 2XA extruder.
MakerBot RapidRinse™ is a compatible support material for Makerbot Method X ABS-R.
MakerBot RapidRinse™ is vacuum sealed to protect the filament from moisture. When not in use MakerBot RapidRinse™ should be stored away from sunlight in the packaged resealable bag. It highly recommended to store MakerBot RapidRinse™ in dry conditions (relative humidity of 15% or less).
If you notice that the surface quality of your supports is uneven or the color is not consistent, this is a likely indicator that the filament has absorbed too much moisture. Spools of MakerBot RapidRinse™ can be dried inside the MakerBot Method X printer.
Q: How do I dissolve my supports?
A: To dissolve RapidRinse from a part all you need is a bucket of water. Heat and agitation are not required but can speed up the process.
MakerBot recommends the following safety equipment for any soluble support removal process:
- Waterproof and chemical resistant safety gloves
- Splash resistant safety goggles
- Stainless steel tongs to remove parts from the water tank
- Stainless steel strainer to remove smaller parts from the water tank
Q: How do I dispose of MakerBot RapidRinse™ supports.
A: Discharge of wastewater is subject to varying regulatory requirements. In some countries, discharge from a support cleaning system into the public sewer system may be subject to an authorization/discharge permit. You should check with local authorities whether restrictions apply to the discharge of wastewater generated by the use of the RapidRinse soluble support material and, where necessary, apply for such permit.
